My Double Page Spread Drawings

I really like my designs so i can't decide which one to chose. I think i'm going to ask my peers with one they like best and what their favourite aspect is. From this i will create another drawing with the most favourite aspects and combine them together to have a mixture of both.
Although i really liked my previous 2 designs i made a new one and i like this one more. It will have a close up shot of my model's face with a slight smile/serious face. Next to it will be a quote from the artist so when the viewer sees it they could relate to it and could cause them to read on to see what the article is about.
On the other side there will be the masthead of the article, the introduction, the main article itself, the logo and magazine name and the artist's logo.
I decided to use the colour gold as it represents royalty and also my questionnaire results shows that when people think of Colombia they think of the flag yellow, blue, red. Perhaps on the other side i should include some red somewhere to include 2 colours that can relate back to the music's origin.
In addition i really like the close up shot of half of his face as it can relate to my article about him not being well known and that he's starting from zero. By only showing half oh his face it can connote that he's still got a lot more to show of himself as he's only starting of and that we can be expecting to see more of him.

Double Spread Page Analysis

This is my double spread magazine analysis. Again I wasn't able to find any bachata double spread articles so instead i did R&B.

My Double Spread page article

Title: Life's a Strife
Nothing's easy to accomplish in the world but it's even worse when you come from a different country and try to create a big name for yourself. Life's been a strife for this young man but it's all been worth it.

It's was a cold winters eve in London where the new Bachata artist Tyler sang his song on stage in front of hundreds of people. The lights were shinning, the snowflakes were slowly drifting down in the chilly breeze but most of all...the fans were cheering!

"It was truly amazing!" he shouted as the crowd cheered his name in the background. He never thought it would of been possible for someone like him to be on the road to success specially at his age. Tyler is only 18 years old and comes from South America, Colombia- Pereira. He left his country and his family for a new start and the one shot he's always wanted. He dreamt of being a footballer when he was younger due to having a passion for sport but when he reached the age of 15 he went on the show 'Colombia Tiene Talento' (Colombia Has Talent). After being eliminated in the semi finals he met the famous artists Romeo Santos and was told he was was going to make it far and that's what Tyler is aiming to do but slow and steady wins the race.

"It's been a tough ride" for Tyler, he hasn't had an easy life. During his life early life in Colombia his parents divorced and he relied on his mum for support and most of the things he needed. Ever since this it had a great impact on his life causing him to have a lot of depression but worst of all went wrong in school, rumours went around causing him to get bullied, 'I remember people telling me that i wasn't going to get far in life and that i should just give up'.  Due to this he didn't have the best education as he had other things going on his mind so he couldn't get a well payed job to support his mum.

'I couldn't bare seeing my mum crying in the night, I had to do something. I'd see her sitting up on her bed crying in the dark as she wiped tears with her sleeve. I'd come over sit next to her and wipe the tears as they ran down her cheeks and tell her that everything's going to be alright as i lifted up her chin and smiled. She'd look at me with her sparkling eyes, smile back and give me a hug.

After him seeing this he started busking on the street and noticed that a lot of people complementing his voice and that he should try do something with it. It was at this point that he had the idea of leaving the football career behind and to open a brand new door and here we are, Started from the bottom now he's here. 'Life's a strife' he said but you got to work and work till' you finally reach your goal but most of all, don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't do.

Music Video Analysis

Aventura- 'La Boda'
I decided to do this music feeling due to it showing basic iconography of the genre Bachata for example the romance and heartbreak and feeling i've been feeling and, it also shows the the main aspects that makes bachata such as the guitar and the back up singer in the music video. The song was released with the album 'Gods Project' in 2005 that got 4x platinum records.
The translation for 'La Boda' is the wedding, it's about a couple that's about to get married but the man Romeo Santos steps in to stop it and tells their love story as shown in the flash backs in the video.

Throughout the video it shows it goes back into the chapel when the couple where getting married however it's in black and white,. This could convey the idea that it's really depressing and upsetting for the main artists to be going through this. To create a bit of contrast to this they included flashbacks to when the artist was together with the lady, however instead of the image being in black and white they put in colour. This could suggest that there was both of them were in love and that they were happy together but once they split up both of their lives turned upside down. The video also includes the main images of a church. Due to the genre of bachata coming from Colombia, Dominican Republic most of those country is Catholic/Christian so as a result they included this the image of the church to represent this and that couples should be getting married in a church instead of a registration hall...maybe.

In addition to this throughout the video you can see the rest of the group singing and playing the guitar in the background. The guitar is the main aspect that makes bachata because it give the music the feel. Personally without the guitar playing in the background the music just wouldn't be the same as it doesn't have the same feel and romance between the audience and the artist.
Furthermore the music video also shows the use of shots such as wide shots to show where the music video takes place and who's the main characters involved in the video.

The video also includes mid shots to try and show the facial expressions of the artists and characters to show their emotions and what they could be feeling. Due to this people seeing this video could try and relate to it as they might be in the same situation as shown.

I believe the target audience for this song would be 16+ because once you get to the age of 16 you can start feeling the effect of love. And it could also be aimed at couple that broke up but you want to get back together due to you still having feelings for each other.

The Mise-On-Scene for this music are very well shown in this video in my opinion. As the music video being called 'The wedding' (in English) the bride and groom are both wearing outfits that you would wear when you're getting married like the white, long, pretty reds for the bride and the smart, buttoned up suit for the groom. The video is also taken in various locations but the one that most stands out would be the church because that's where most Catholic/Christian couples get married together but, there are also other locations such as the school that relate to when the artist is talking about when they were in school and how he used to 'study her body' which is a metaphors because in a school you study subjects and for him to say that he must of loved her very much and her house when he used to sneak up her house without her parents finding out and her dog barking at him. All of these scenes include different outfits such as a blazer and jeans in the church because when you go to church you're supposed to go dressed smart, a white dressing gown for the girl when they have flash back at her house, and many more.  As a result to the colour scheme in the church become in black and white it could suggest depression as you can't see the bright, luminous colours anymore, everything becomes black and white which could suggest depression or that they're upset at their actions.

Aventura- 'Dile Al Amor'
This is also a good example of the genre of bachata as it shows the whole group in the shot showing what makes this genre such as singing, playing the guitar, bass guitar, etc. The name 'Dile Al Amor' means 'Tell Love'. It's about the main protagonist Romeo Santos falling in love with numerous gils but at the end of the day the girls don't appreciate it and they fall in love with someone else so at the end of the day the main artist gives up and decides that he doesn't need love in his love said at the end of the song.

Just like the previous song 'La Boda' this song also shows the main iconography that represent the genre of bachata such as the band playing their instruments as well as the romance and heartbreak which are typical themes that this genre touch upon. In addition to this people believe that when you fall in love you where hit with a Cupid arrow, this video also represents this by the lady hitting the main protagonist with arrows and every time she fails she slows out a candle until she gets to the third candle and decides enough is enough and he doesn't want love in his life.
